5 MYTHS That Mislead You To Get The Bigger Helmet Size

1.  " I Need a Bigger Helmet to Fit My Glassess"

You need glasses that fit your helmet instead. It is much harder to fit a helmet properly than to fit a pair of glasses for use inside a helmet. A lot of beginner biker keen to up-size the helmet to fit the glassess and ends up with a oversized helmet. Oversized helmet will caused a lot empty spaces in between and rendered the protection and ventilation ineffective. Try to find a glasses with thin and flexible shafts, or consider wearing a contact instead.



2.  "I Need a Bigger Helmet to Fit My Pony Tail, Sanggul Or Tudung"


This is very common among lady biker and pillion rider, where they want to wear a helmet over their pony tail, sanggul or tudung. Well, engineer do not design the impact layer with a fist-sized ball of hair in the mix. The protection and the ventilation will be compromised then. Put the hair down and wear a buff.



3.  " This Helmet Doesnt Fit Because It Pull Down My Ears"


If you have giant ears, you may need to practise a little to get on the helmet without folding them. After you put on the helmet, you may need to use your both hands to move the helmet around to reach in and smooth out the fit on each side of ears. Don't upsize the helmet.  



4.  " I Need a Bigger Helmet Because My Chin Touches the Chinbar"


If your chin touches the chinbar, it won't affect the safety level of your helmet as it is designed to withstand serious impact force without transferring that energy to your face. If it bother you, choose a helmet with more space upfront like modular helmet or adventure helmet.



5.  " I'm a Passenger, So it is OK if my helmet is a little loose"


The road does not care what seat you are in, it will hurt you all the same. No matter you are pillion rider or not, or you seldom join the ride, the protection you need to protect your body is same like the rider. Don't let it be a reason for you to get improper protection for your most important asset ( your body ).  Our experience tell the medical bill for improper protected rider in a crash will be a few times more than the cost of your gears.
